The filming of Robert Redford’s movie “The Milagro Bean Field War” took place north of Santa Fe in the Village of Truchas, on a property next door to where Ed Sandoval resided.
As a courtesy of the producer, Mr. Sandoval was invited on set during the period of filming. The character that played Aramante Cordova in the movie was the old man seen walking through out the film. Mr. Sandoval would sit and have long conversations with Aramante and was inspired by his persona, hence began including him in his paintings, adding mystic and charm to the scenes, seen walking solo or sometimes with a companion.
The man is called “El Viejito” and has become Ed Sandoval’s signature that represents “The Journey of Life”.
